Pacing at Christmas

Pacing at Christmas

Christmas is slowly taking over my home. With a lot of help, I’m gradually decorating everything. The tree was completed today. Tomorrow I hope to decorate the mantel and a small tree that will be placed in our guest room.

Hubby put our nativity scene in the yard, and it looks beautiful in the snow with a spotlight. I finally put out the wreath with tiny lights attached. I’ve been pacing. If you live with a chronic illness, pacing is one of the most important parts of life.

Unfortunately, I sometimes fail at pacing myself. When I have a deadline, like having company, I push my limits. When the event happens, I sit there and feel the pain. I try to have a balance and only push myself on a rare occasion. Hubby ends up doing the physical work.

I began setting up my Christmas tree on Monday and finished decorating it last night. I hope to decorate the mantel today. I won’t have much more than that. The guest room won’t take long to prepare for our youngest child, who arrives on the 16th. I’m very excited to have him here for the holidays.

Are you busy this month? I know we all have varying celebrations and decorations. If I could do all that I did in the past, there would be so much more of a holly jolly Christmas. I am quite happy with soft white lights and garlands. We have a nativity outside and a wreath on the door. I hope everyone will feel cozy and welcome during the festive Christmas season.

I truly hope that you will have some wonderful times, making great memories with your family and friends.

No matter the season, there are always medical bills. My new 2026 insurance bill was auto-deducted from our account. Now, we have so much less to live on. I have to have good insurance because there will be surgeries in 2026 and who knows what else. With Avascular Necrosis in two wrists and a brain tumor (that is still being watched by the doctor) there could be some very expensive procedures. There are also procedures that we don’t expect, and they always happen to me.

Today, I plan to hang some garland and turn on the lights. That fills my heart with happiness and nostalgia. Those feelings are bringing me joy. I hope that today, you will feel joy.
