Good Plans To Improve My Poor Health
Summer is officially over at our house. This was the best summer of our time with having an empty nest. Our middle child came and spent a week with us. Her children are cute as can be and so well-behaved. We had long prayed for this visit and every moment of the visit blessed us. Our cups were overflowing with love. Despite our amazing reunions, it’s time for some good plans to improve my poor health.

Poor Health, But Good Times
Our youngest spent almost the entire summer with us. He loves home and we love him coming home. Parting was sweet because we know he has a good job as an Assistant Professor. Full-time non-adjunct teaching jobs aren’t the easiest to find. Parting was more sorrowful than usual. I’m not totally sure why.
He knows we are frail. Hubby is turning 80. His cancer treatment has made him so weak. He’s taken quite a few bad falls and he’s having a hard time walking. Doctor’s also found a Squamous cell carcinoma on his arm. Our youngest is afraid he won’t spend as much time with his dad as he would like.
My health continues to get worse. However, I’m determined to work harder to improve my balance and weight. I really want to live longer. Watching my grand-kids grow up would be so amazing! I had all four grandparents until after I gave them great-grandchildren. They meant everything to me. (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10514349/)
Motivation To Do What I Can
Having three beautiful and highly intelligent children has been a gift from God, and I’ll always be thankful. When they visit, life becomes richer in every way. The only down-sides are my fatigue and sadness when they leave. Because they don’t visit often, too many times we were tempted to do too many activities with them. And, I could never say no.
All that unconditional love left me with pain flares. That was improving, until the dentist discovered my need for a root canal. I’m taking antibiotics for infection, which has lowered my pain. The awful procedure will be in nine days. I’m praying already that it will go fast and easy.
Yesterday I began to experience symptoms of a cold and sore throat and I hope I didn’t pass that on to anyone. Prayers are going up. It’s common to feel tired after having visitors. It’s not common to need a week or more to recover physically. Feeling this way also is accompanied by sadness, frustration, and humiliation.

Never Giving Up
It seems to be easier to overcome those feelings. It’s better to let go of the frustration and humiliation. I can’t help the fact that I’m disabled. The best thing for me to do now is to rejoice in the memories and try my best to improve the things that I can control.
Some people are fortunate to have natural will power. I don’t have much at all. As a result, fear motivates me. Additionally, I fear I may struggle to function with all my chronic conditions. I haven’t tried very hard to lose weight.
To help myself stick to it, I’m creating a menu plan. Having a plan is half the battle.
I hope and pray that your battles are easier. God bless.
